Saturdays can be damn slow,so we kill time in a number of ways, sometimes you can not help but see some unusual situations you wish you could put down for others to see, and if there is a camera at hand,well...
On the 14th July 2012 we witnessed this flimsy series of events, flimsy in that there is no credible evidence to turn it into a legal accusation of corruption, but we know what took place, the Police patrol pick-up no PT1973 apprehended one Damian Mallya of Orori in Hai district for violating road safety laws. His offences were
On the 14th July 2012 we witnessed this flimsy series of events, flimsy in that there is no credible evidence to turn it into a legal accusation of corruption, but we know what took place, the Police patrol pick-up no PT1973 apprehended one Damian Mallya of Orori in Hai district for violating road safety laws. His offences were
- Driving without a valid driving license: road traffic act cap 168,s.19(1)(2)(he has none to this day)
- Failure to wear a helmet road traffic act cap 168,s.39(11)(12)
as per the road traffic laws of the United Republic of Tanzania.
Matters were quietly solved "in-situ" as we say in engineering jargon or at the place of incidence by having a little side discussion and agreeing that the offences were ummm,eeeh...well it was saturday wasn't it?, were there no other matters to attend to?
To cut a long story short the matter was dropped right there, the exact details of how Damian was let off the hook with such undeniable evidence of fault is not very clear, all we could catch was how the cops started loading his motorbike on the police vehicle and decided otherwise after he had a 'side talk' with the boss.
have a look:
Junior Officer waiting for matters to be settled |
Bike's fate as yet unknown |
They began by "starting" to load it!! |
And so here we are, embarrassed as hell that we do not have any credible evidence to enable us to accuse anybody of any wrong doing.
Yesterday (1st Sep.2012) being Saturday again, the appearance of PT1973 on the prowl attracted our attention.
It's our hope that the pictures are self explanatory as far as the subject matter has been hinted,in brief the driver is stopped, called over, intimidated a bit then persuaded to part with some loot and the matter is dropped,in this case you see the police pick-up turning around after dropping the case and goes to a "TUSKER" hut for a saturday relaxation.
