This is Moshi, the other node in the Tanzanian northern tourist circuit apart from Arusha. Both towns are situated at foothills of volcanic mountains, Kilimanjaro for Moshi and Meru for Arusha, the surrounding plains and the mountains themselves home to an abundance of tropical wildlife. The towns also are the gateway to the Serengeti national park,Ngorongoro crater,Lake Manyara national park and many more.Highlights in the local wilderness include the annual Maasai Mara migration of ungulates which is transboundary with neighbouring Kenya.
We therefore pride ourselves in having a natural tourist magnet environment.
Tourism, according to the governor of the bank of Tanzania, currently earns this country 1 Billion Dollars annually which is now three times the GDP from agriculture.
Today's Mwananchi newspaper carries a story that exposes the complains of hotel owners in Moshi that nowadays their guests require only accommodation instead of full board as was during some times ago, reasons stated being that the food they offer is way too expensive at the same quality as that sold by street vendors by the name 'mama ntilie' and that the hotels strive to offer western cuisines instead of local tastes which leaves the tourists wondering just why would they leave home to come here only to be fed exactly what they flew away from for a while!!, meanwhile mama ntilies provide a range of genuine Tanzanian cookery and thus a change of taste to the guests.
